Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots Mini Grant
St Michael's school was successful in gaining the Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots 2022 mini grant for St. Michael's Black Cockatoo Garden.
This is a youth-led organization focused on equipping communities to launch local projects that care for animals, people and the environment.
'The Black Cockatoo Garden' application focuses on the endangered Black Cockatoo. The Black Cockatoo and Powerful Owl have lost habitat through the bushfires and urban settlement. In 2022 we will be planting Casuarina trees and installing nesting boxes. The Nowra Men's Shed are donating their time and skills in making the nesting boxes.
With this grant, we are entitled to:
1. $200 worth of funds to spend on our project
2. Mentoring from our local Roots & Shoots network
3. Opportunities for young leaders involved in our project to share their impact with other Roots & Shoots chapters across the world as diverse as Uganda, Austria and Singapore!
