Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

This week the school has had two 6pm meetings. On Tuesday 7 June 2022 a group of parents gathered for the Parents & Friends (P&F) Annual General Meeting and monthly meeting. A new executive was elected and a number of possible projects and fundraiser events were discussed. After an enforced layoff due to COVID19, it is pleasing to be back on track. Congratulations to President Sophie Pavlis and her team on their resilience and willingness to assist make things better for all students and families. The P&F will unveil a few initiatives shortly.

On Wednesday 8 June 2022, Year 6 parents gathered in the parish hall to enrol in the Confirmation program for 2022. Parents unable to attend the meeting will be required to call the parish office on 44231712 to speak with Father Joseph regarding the possibility of enrolling their child for the Parish Sacramental program for Confirmation. Only students enrolled in the program will be able to make their Confirmation with Bishop Brian Mascord next term.

As things begin to return to the new normal, Father Joseph will commence masses with our students. Each class will have a specific day and families are invited to attend. Mass dates are in the school newsletter. It will be great to have families join the students again at mass. It has been a long time. Next week, at 9am the following classes will attend mass.

6B - Tuesday 14 June
6R - Wednesday 15 June
6W - Thursday 16 June

All families have been informed that due to no ovals being available within the Shoalhaven, students wishing to compete in the Diocesan carnival will need to self nominate. A google form was sent to the families of all students in Years 3-6. The school is running out of time to wait for ovals to be allowed to conduct carnivals. Please have these nominations in by Wednesday 15 June 2022. If there are too many nominations for a particular event, a one off event will occur to decide who will represent the school. I am very disappointed that the athletics carnivals have needed to be postponed or cancelled, but it is beyond our control. Mr Allmark will share with you the amazing results of students who represented at the Mackillop Cross Country carnival.

Next week the Catholic Education Office Wollongong (CEDoW) will visit the school for the four yearly Cyclic Review. CEDoW will meet with various staff, parents and students to validate a self review by the school. This Cyclic Review will be followed in two weeks by Mrs Carolyn Rutkowski’s Assistant Principal review. Your participation in Mrs Rutkowski’s survey will be greatly appreciated. The school will also be visited by CEDoW Director Peter Hill on Thursday 30 June 2022. Mr Hill will also join us for the annual NAIDOC celebration.

The school has reintroduced fortnightly assemblies to celebrate student progress and achievements. Parents of students in Kindergarten, Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 will be invited to join their children on Friday of Week 8 at 2:15pm. Parents of students in Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 will be invited to join their children on Friday of Week 9 at 2:15pm.

Enjoy this well earned long weekend. School returns on Tuesday 14 June 2022. Stay safe.

Yours in Faith and Virtue,

Christopher Paton
