Our school was fortunate to enter 4 teams, including three boys' and one girls' side to play against a number of local schools.

All students played extremely well, displaying fantastic team spirit. Our teams were commended on their enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

With several schools in attendance, there was plenty of talented opponents at the event. Remarkably, two of our teams, including both a boys' and a girls' team, performed extremely well, progressing to the final. An outstanding result! Well done to all students!

On Tuesday 20 June, many of our Year 3 to 6 students participated in the Diocesan Netball Gala Day, at Berkeley. It was an early start with the first game commencing at 8:45am. Students showed great skill and sportsmanship, playing 7 games against fellow Catholic Schools in the Wollongong Diocese. Our teams finished with many victories, showcasing how strong we are in netball.

A big thank you is extended to all parents and St John's students who assisted with managing teams and umpiring. Without your support the day would not have run so smoothly. Also thank you to Mrs Baran, Mrs Boyton and Mrs Roles for organising and supervising our students. Congratulations to all participants on the tremendous efforts to all those who participated.

Yesterday, K-6 students participated in our annual Athletics Carnival at Shoalhaven High School. There was a lot of planning behind the scenes to enable this carnival to proceed before the holidays, with the initial event for Monday postponed due to gale force winds.

Students came prepared for a day full of fun, laughter and sport. The infant students competed in a variety of activities ranging from sprints, egg and spoon race, relays, javelin and Tug-O-War and more.

Primary students raced in the 100, 200 and 800 metres and competed in a variety of sporting events.

It was fantastic to see all students involved in the carnival thoroughly enjoying themselves and smiling.

We will now focus on completing the field events to be conducted during class sport lessons. Thank you to all staff and parents who helped make the day run as smoothly as it did.

Thank you to all of the teachers and staff who assisted during the carnival, Mrs Goddard for managing the timekeeping for races, Meaghan's Kitchen for providing the canteen service as well as family and friends for supporting students at the event.

Cooper_Green_NRL_Union.jpg

Cooper Green of Year 6, has recently been touring the state with his sporting representation. From June 20 to 23 Cooper was a member of the MacKillop Rugby League team, playing in the NSWPSSA trials in Wagga Wagga.

It was a fabulous experience for Cooper, playing against the best League students in NSW. From Cooper's report, during one match he was opposing a player who was taller than 6 foot and would have looked out of place in the South Sydney Rabbitoh's starting line up!

Across the 3 days Cooper played 6 games. The competition was extremely tough, with no easy games. Cooper reported his most memorable game to be their victory over the strong Polding team, coming from behind to take the win in the final 10 minutes of the game.

Cooper, then travelled to Forbes to represent the Wollongong Team at the MacKillop Rugby Union trials on June 25-26, playing in 5 games over 2 days. Cooper progressed to the 'Probables and Possibles' and was successful in being selected for the MacKillop team to represent at the NSWPSSA Rugby Championships in August, held at Camden. Congratulations to Cooper for his fine representative efforts in League and Union!
