2024 DIOCESE SPORT NOMINATIONS NOW OPEN

Nominations are now open for students in Years 4 and 5 wishing to trial for a Wollongong Diocesan team for 2024. Students are required to be experienced players and extremely talented in their chosen sport.

If students are successful during these trials, they have the opportunity to represent the Diocese of Wollongong at the MacKillop Trials, with the possibility to progress to State Representative level.

We are limited in the number of students we are able to select for each sport, and advise that students must meet the criteria set by the Diocese. Children may be unsuccessful in their nomination due to experience, skills or not meeting the selection criteria. All students who have nominated for a sport will be informed of the outcome closer to the trial date. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Allmark.

CONGRATULATIONS THOMAS!

This year, Thomas Hickmott of Year 5 has immersed himself in AFL, a sport he is very passionate about. Thomas has shown himself to be a handy player for his local club, the Bomaderry Tigers. In his first year of playing Under 13’s, Thomas finished fourth in the league’s best and fairest.

In addition to demonstrating his skills as a player, Thomas has excelled as an umpire, both on the field and in goals.

In the local junior league, Thomas has been the field umpire for the Under 9 and 11 games. Although only 11 years old, Thomas has shown maturity well beyond his years, confidently taking on the goal umpire duties for the under 11’s, 13’s and 17’s games as well as the local Senior Mens’ and Womens’ competitions.

His umpiring talents have been noticed throughout the league. Last week Thomas was assigned as the field umpire in the Illawarra Under 11’s Grand Final and goal umpire for the Under 13’s and 17’s. Thomas has now been invited to be part of the South Coast Senior & Junior Umpiring panel and will be mentored over the coming years. Well done to Thomas on these magnificent efforts, both as a player and umpire.
