ST MICHAEL’S SWIMMING CARNIVAL

Our School Swimming Carnival will be held next Friday 24 November, at Bomaderry Pool. The Competitive Carnival commences at 8:30 am with students to organize their own transport to this event.

The Non-Competitive Carnival will follow, with bus services transporting students from school after the Class Rolls are marked at 8:45am. Please ensure your child brings their water bottle, goggles, towel, swimmers, sunscreen and plenty of food and drink.

Entries to the Competitive Swimming Carnival are now closed.

If you have not completed the Non-Competitive Swimming Carnival form for your child, please complete as soon as possible. This form must be completed for every student who is not attending the Competitive Swimming Carnival. Students who do not return this form will not be allowed in the pool.

MAJOR SPORTS AWARD WINNERS

Last Friday evening, Mr Paton and I had the pleasure of attending the annual Catholic Development Fund (CDF) Sports Awards. The awards are in recognition of students who have represented MacKillop and the Wollongong Diocese, performing at a high level across multiple sports. This year, Adam Wisniewski (Year 5), Morten Ellerington (Year 5) and Cooper Green (Year 6) were nominated for awards. 

Adam Wisniewski received a Primary Sports Council Medallion for his representation of the Wollongong Diocese in Cross Country and Athletics 

Morten Ellerington received a Primary Sports Council Medallion for his representation of the Wollongong Diocese in AFL, Cross Country, and Athletics.

Cooper Green received a Primary Sports Council Red Award for his representation of the Wollongong Diocese in Athletics, Cricket, Rugby Union and Rugby League. Cooper also progressed to the next level, representing MacKillop in Athletics, Rugby Union and Rugby League.

Cooper’s astonishing feat of accomplishments were recognized, with Cooper being the Major Award recipient, earning the Boys’ Primary School Sportsman of the Year for his skill across a wide variety of sports. This is an outstanding achievement!

WOLLONGONG DIOCESE TENNIS & BASKETBALL

On Tuesday 14 November, Grace Seller (Basketball), Cooper Lucke (Basketball), Noah Claven (Basketball) and Lucas Duncan (Tennis) attended the Wollongong Representative Sports trials.

These events are extremely competitive, inviting talented and experienced players representing schools throughout the Wollongong Diocese. Grace, Cooper, Noah and Lucas demonstrated outstanding effort and enjoyed participating in the challenge.

Special mention to Grace Seller, selected in the Girls’ Wollongong Diocese Basketball team and Lucas Duncan, selected in the Boys’ Wollongong Diocese Tennis team. We wish Grace and Lucas the best of luck as they represent Wollongong at the MacKillop trials in February 2024.
