Sports Corner News
The Year 3-6 School Cross Country event is approaching, scheduled for Friday 8 March at Willandra. This year there will be a notable change in the distance for participants in the 11 and 12-year age groups, increasing from 2km to the challenge of a 3km run to align with the distance set for dioceses across New South Wales. A Compass Alert has been provided for the Carnival with parents/carers required to provide permission as soon as possible. Please note, all Year 3-6 classes will be attending this event.
On Tuesday, Morten Ellerington (Year 6), Charles Meagher and Jack Webber (Year 5), represented our school at the Combined Wollongong & Canberra/Goulburn AFL trials in Fairy Meadow.
A skilled lineup of 34 talented players from as far as Bega and Yass attended the event. Morten, Charles and Jack showcased their skills and sportsmanship, impressing selectors with all three boys named in the Wollongong Team.
We extend our best wishes to Morten, Charles and Jack as they will now represent the combined Wollongong & Canberra/Goulburn team on 25-26 March at the NSW MacKillop AFL Trials in Wagga.
In another noteworthy event last Tuesday 13 February, Tommy Webster (Year 6), Savannah Crockett and Amarlie Ward (Year 5), were selected to participate in the Wollongong Diocesan Touch trials. This challenging competition included 30 talented players braving scorching 32-degree heat. Congratulations to Tommy, Savannah and Amarlie, who each displayed outstanding efforts and commitment throughout the event!
Yesterday, Charles Meagher and Sachin Hill joined 50 students from across the Diocese to attend the Wollongong Diocesan Cricket trials, vying for a coveted spot in the starting 11.
The mercury soared to 32 Degrees Celsius and the sun posed an additional challenge for the boys navigating through drills and game simulations, showcasing their prowess in batting, bowling, and fielding.
Congratulations to Sachin on his exceptional skills displayed to secure his place in the starting eleven. Sachin will now advance to the MacKillop trials in Wagga in September.
Celebrating the remarkable achievements in athletics, Mila Bozikov has demonstrated exceptional dedication and talent. During the holidays, Mila participated in both the NSW Country Athletics Championships and Little Athletics Regionals, securing an impressive collection of medals. Her outstanding performances earned her gold medals in Long Jump, High Jump, and the 700 metre walk, as well as silver in the 100 and 200 metres. Currently, Mila is diligently preparing for the upcoming state titles, and we send her our best wishes for continued success.
