PRIMARY CROSS COUNTRY
The Year 3-6 School Cross Country was held at Willandra on Friday 8 March. The weather smiled upon us, blessing the carnival with perfect conditions as students demonstrated a mix of excitement, nerves and sportsmanship. Congratulations to all students who completed the challenging course. A special mention to the following placegetters;
RUGBY LEAGUE
Simultaneously, on the same day, Tommy Webster and Rory Megahey showcased their skills at the Wollongong Rugby League Trials held at St Gregory’s College. The boys exhibited remarkable performances, each playing three full games with intense competition and scorching 35-degree heat. Congratulations Tommy & Rory!
NETBALL
On Thursday 7 March, the Wollongong Diocesan Netball team trials took place at Berkeley, where Amalie Ellerington (Year 5), Ella Walsh, Anais Wynn and Allison Edwards (Year 6) showcased their talents. Among a competitive pool of participants, their exceptional skills stood out. Allison Edwards particularly shone, earning herself a coveted spot on the Wollongong Diocesan team, a testament to her dedication and prowess. Allison will now showcase her skills in Canberra trialling for the Mackillop team.
Morten Ellerington and Will Rundle of Year 6 demonstrated their netball prowess at the NSW Netball Primary All Schools Boys 12 Years team trials in Bomaderry Indoor courts on Wednesday 6 March. Impressive performances earned both Morten and Will a place in the NSW Boys Netball Team! Good luck to Morten and Will for the upcoming championship in Sydney.
DIOCESAN SWIMMING CARNIVAL
On Tuesday 5 March, seventeen students from St. Michael’s competed at the South Coast Diocesan Swimming Carnival at Corrimal Swimming Pool. Despite the early start, St Michael's representatives showcased their swimming talents with enthusiasm. Sophie Webber's standout performance, securing third place in the Junior Girls Breaststroke, earned her a chance to trial for the Wollongong Swim team.
FOOTBALL (SOCCER)
On Tuesday 4 March, Archie Richards (Year 5), Dean Osgood, Jack Butler and Morten Ellerington (Year 6), participated in the Wollongong selection trials for Football. The boys showcased their skills amongst 72 talented players within the Diocese.
Congratulations to all the participants for their dedication, sportsmanship, and achievements in these sporting events.
