Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
In the last newsletter we traced the journey of Jesus Christ through the sad, challenging and joyous events of Holy Week. In the week leading to Good Friday, each grade of students in the school portrayed the important milestones leading to Jesus dying on the Cross. I am hoping that all families had a meaningful and spiritual Easter, with numerous opportunities to dwell on the story of Jesus and the new beginnings that Easter Sunday has given to us. When all students returned to school last Tuesday following the Easter break, Year 1 and Year 2 presented Jesus ‘rising from the dead’. A special gratitude is extended to all staff and students who presented the events of Holy Week to us.
During this last week, many families have engaged in ‘Parent-Teacher’ interviews. These are an excellent opportunity for parents to discuss their child’s progress with the teachers as well as share any important information about their child. The school views these interviews as a two way exchange of information to assist each child to reach their potential. Some interviews will occur during next week as well.
This coming Tuesday 9 April, the Parents and Friends (P&F) group will have their monthly meeting. The P&F have had a very successful term, organising a number of excellent activities including the Easter raffle. Congratulations to all of the winners of the Easter raffle and thank you to all families who donated Easter eggs and bought raffle tickets. The P&F and the school also sent a link to all families regarding the present school uniform and hair/grooming policy earlier this week. So far we have had 199 responses. Thank you for participating in the survey. The initial results will be discussed during the next couple of P&F meetings.
In Term 2, Mrs Barbara McKenna will be taking some well earned Long Service Leave to travel overseas to visit family and friends. Mrs McKenna will be away for the whole term and I would like to wish her the very best for a safe and enjoyable break. Mrs McKenna's teacher librarian role will continue next term and I will share details of the temporary replacement when interviews have been completed. Have a wonderful time Mrs McKenna.
School will conclude for Term 1 next Friday 12 April 2024. I would like to wish all staff, students and families a safe and enjoyable break. On the first scheduled day for Term 2, Monday 29 April 2024, all staff will participate in a Spirituality Day. The first day for students and parents in Term 2 will be Tuesday 30 April 2024. As ANZAC day will occur during the student vacation, St Michael’s Nowra will have our Remembrance Service on Friday 3 May, 2024. Information about ANZAC day has previously been distributed through previous newsletters. Thanks again everyone for a wonderful term.
Yours in faith and virtue
