P&F News
The St Michaels Parents and Friends association have had an amazing 2019. As the year comes to a close we would like to make a special mention of our current president Phil Duncan. Phil has been on the executive committee for the past 4 years, one year as vice president and the last 3 as president of the P&F. Phil and Lucy and their children have made an amazing contribution to our school, not only as President but also as major sponsors for the school fair for many years. Without Phil's leadership, guidance and hardworking example our committee would not have been the success it has been in not only raising much needed funds for our school, but also continuing the community involvement of St Michael’s families of years past. In Phil's time as president of the Parent’s and Friend’s association our committee has raised enough funds to provide countless books and readers for the Library, a much-needed BBQ and gardening equipment, has contributed to leadership camps, purchased iPads for classrooms and provided Apple TV's for all classes from K to Year 6. We would like to thank Phil for his hard work and dedication, and our Parents and Friends Association will find it hard to replace you.
Phil is not the only member of our current P&F committee who has finished serving on the executive committee. Michelle Lane our treasurer and Natalie Kidd our Secretary have also put in an amazing 3 years on our committee and will be stepping down. Michelle came into this role as a brand new kinder mum, and has really excelled in her role. We would like to thank Michelle for all her hard work, reports and bank runs and volunteering. Natalie has not only served as secretary but also as our vice president and committed organiser of the school magazine. Natalie has given countless hours organising pie drives, typing minutes and agendas, and applying for grants. On top of this, spending up to 15 hours a week collating the school magazine. You both will be greatly missed.
Lastly, I would like to personally thank the committee as a whole: Phil Duncan, Natalie Kidd, Michelle Lane and Kristy Davis and every other parent that has attended meetings or helped out in any way. I have really enjoyed working with you all to help make our kids school the amazing community it is.
In other news we would like to thank our parents, Mr Paton and Mrs Rutkowski for attending our P&F Christmas party Tuesday night. It was a lovely evening and a great way to thank everyone for the contribution made in 2019.
Don't forget this Monday the 16th December we have our school Christmas concert. The P&F will be providing the BBQ and drinks will be for sale. Any parents able to help out at the BBQ will be much appreciated. There is no EFTPOS available.
As a final thought for 2019, I would like parents to start thinking of 2020 and what you can give towards our Parents and Friends association. In our current executive committee we have several positions that need to step down and we are asking for new parents to step up. In our current executive committee we have parents who work part time, full time, night shift and are business owners. We understand that life is busy and we only ask you give the time you can. As the idea of joining the P&F executive committee can be overwhelming, we have broken down each role and responsibility so that parents understand what each role does.
