Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
This week we have commenced our preparation for Holy Week which will commence in 40 days from now. On Tuesday students learnt about Shrove Tuesday and why this tradition has been part of many of our lives. Yesterday Father Pat Faherty led the Year 3-6 students in a beautiful Ash Wednesday mass marking the 40 days of preparation. The Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers led the students in an ‘Ashes’ ceremony yesterday as well. Thank you to the teachers who prepared the students to receive the ashes. During this next period of time, the students will learn a great deal about our Catholic tradition. Thank you to Mrs Mathieson and Mrs Royston for transforming our school hall into a mass setting.
This Friday at our Year 3-6 assembly, we will be presenting badges to students who will be involved in the Student Representative Council (SRC) and the Year 6 Mini-Vinnies team. Many students applied for inclusion in the Mini-Vinnies. Congratulations to the students in Years 3-6 who will have these positions of responsibility for 2020.
Next week is the commencement of Catholic Schools Week. Our school will have some specific activities during the week, including a prayer at Assembly on Monday morning. Our schools will be highlighted through media announcements regarding the enrolment period and I ask parents to collect enrolment packages from the school office for prospective Kindergarten students for 2021. Please let your friends and relations know about the enrolment period as well. Formal enrolment meetings will occur in May.
Next week on Thursday 5 March 2020, a number of our students will be participating in the South Coast Diocesan Swimming Carnival. Good luck to these students and thankyou to the staff and parents who will be attending the carnival.
Yours in Faith and Virtue,
Mr Christopher Paton
