Spring is just around the corner and this means that winter weekend sports are drawing to a close or have finished altogether. Congratulations to all those students who, over the winter months, have put in the time, effort and commitment to play their chosen sport. From speaking to the students there have been some big wins, close games and heart breaking losses. It is great to hear that there is such enthusiasm from the students regarding their sporting commitments. There are also students who are playing in finals for their various sports. We wish these students all the best and I hope to hear about the exciting games that the students are playing in.

With winter sports wrapping up reports have come to me about some St. Michael’s students who have excelled in their chosen sport. On Tuesday, the South Coast AFL had their Best and Fairest Awards at Mollymook Golf Club. St. Michael’s had students up for awards on the night: Wade McKenzie, Dustin Cook and Anya Ellerington. Despite a great season, these three missed out on an award on the night but being nominated will help them strive for more next season. A special mention to Anya who polled second in the Under 13’s competition. She was 1 point behind the eventual winner and the only girl in a predominately male played sport, to poll for the Best and Fairest. Congratulations must also go to Lincoln Taylor of Year 3. He was awarded the encouragement award for his efforts in the Under 9 competition.

Lastly, we wish Thomas Duncan and Elijah Guyatt all the best in their MacKillop Boys Cricket Trials which will he held at the end of next week in Wagga Wagga.
