Dear Parents,
As we near the completion of the third week, I am pleased to report that all classes are very settled and the teachers and all support staff are getting to know the children really well. Our Kindergarten students have now been at school for a week and have transitioned to school exceptionally well. All staff are teaching the students the ‘Positive Behaviours For Learning’ (PB4L) required for students to be able to learn effectively in each classroom. All procedures in the school including how the classrooms are organised, how students move in and out of classrooms, acceptable noise levels and all ‘good practice’ are guided by a whole school approach to implementing PB4L. These PB4L procedures are explicitly taught.
‘Meet the teacher’ evening.
Parents will learn more about PB4L at the ‘Meet the teacher’ evening next Tuesday, 18 February 2020. This is an important meeting for parents only. It commences at 6pm in the school hall where all teachers are introduced to the parents. By 6.30pm teachers and parents will have moved to the classrooms for a 30 minute session by the classroom teacher. At 7pm, the second session will commence and the evening will conclude at 7.30pm. The evening is not intended to be individual parent teacher interviews. Parents will receive an overview of organisational details, have an opportunity to meet the teacher and commence the important partnership between parents and teachers, based on mutual trust and co-operation. We are looking forward to all parents making this evening a priority.
Last Tuesday night a group of parents and I gathered in the School Hall Foyer for the ‘Parents and Friends (P&F) Annual General Meeting’. As the P&F executive had been in their specific roles for three years, they were guided by the Constitution to step down. I would like to sincerely thank President Phil Duncan, Treasurer Michelle Lane, Secretary Nat Kidd, Assistant President Sophie Pavlis and Publicity Officer Kristy Davis for guiding us over the last few years. Our P&F are a vital group in our school and provide extraordinary assistance through organisation of major events and fundraising for required student needs. Over the last two years, each teaching area in the school has received a large screen TV, powered by Apple TV connectivity. Many other projects have occurred as well during this time. A new LED information screen will soon replace the current one on the corner of North and Osborne St. Thank you to our outgoing committee. The work of Lucy Duncan as School Fair convenor and Nat Kidd as co-ordinator of the School Yearbook was acknowledged by all present and a vote of thanks was extended.
Congratulations to our new committee of:
President: Sophie Pavlis
Vice President: Rachelle Moore
Secretary: Carina Beattie
Treasurer: Fiona Wilson
This new committee are looking forward to your support during the 2020 school year. Our next P&F meeting will be on Tuesday 10 March 2020. Thank you to all parents who support the school in so many ways.
Yours in Faith and Virtue,
Mr Christopher Paton

Ash Wednesday Ash Wednesday is the first day of the season of Lent. During this season of forty days, God our Father wants us to live our lives away from doing wrong and turn back to Him. On Ash Wednesday we have ashes placed on our foreheads in the sign of a cross. The ashes are made from the burning palms blessed in the previous year’s Palm Sunday celebration. They remind us that one day we will die so we should be sorry for our wrong doings and try to be more like Jesus. On Ash Wednesday adults refrain from eating any meals that contain meat. |

Animal Bush Fire Assistance - Update
As promised we have photos from Therese Bagnall's property in the Araluen Valley. As you can see quite a number of animals are searching for food. Even though it has rained, food will be scarce for many weeks to come, so please continue to send in gold coin donations so we can buy and distribute the pellets. Thank you
