Dear Parents and Carers,
The school has had a relatively settled second week of full student attendance. Some students are still adjusting to a regular school day format, but overall the transition back to school has been very successful. The before school drop off is going well with most students able to separate successfully at the school gates. The afternoon is improving, but we are still experiencing the following problems:
- The circular pickup of students at 3.15pm requires parents to turn right when they enter the North St gate and head up to God’s grass. Once the students see their parents, we ask the parent and child to make their way immediately down the bitumen driveway, not back down God’s grass.
- Once your child reaches your side, we ask you to exit the playground straight away.
- I ask parents to please observe the social distancing of 1.5 metres even when talking to another parent. Even if sitting on a seat waiting for students to leave their classrooms at 3pm, we ask social distancing of 1.5 metres to be observed.
- If parking in the car park across from school, please allow space for all cars to exit the carpark.
- Drop off zone on North Street - parents are asked to remain in their car when in this zone.
Australians have done an amazing job to avoid the widespread of COVID19, however we cannot become complacent. Please continue to remind each other about observing the 1.5 metres social distancing between adults.
During the last week, each class has learnt about and celebrated the Ascension, Pentecost and Sorry day. The students have engaged well in their class liturgies. We look forward to hearing news soon about the Sacraments.
Please take the opportunity to enjoy the June Long weekend. School resumes on Tuesday 9 June 2020.
Yours in Faith and Virtue,
Mr Christopher Paton
Join us for the next webinar in the DCO Webinar series: Deployment - embracing the challenge
When: Wednesday June 10th
Where: Online Event Free Via Eventbrite
Time: 8:00pm to 9:30pm
NOTE: This webinar is only for ADF members and their families
Having your member away from home on deployment can be a stressful and challenging time. We’ve developed a new webinar series called ‘Deployment: embracing the challenge’ to support families with a member due to deploy. The series will cover a range of information about deployment like pre-deployment preparation, what to do during deployment and after your member returns home.
The first webinar focuses on pre-deployment. Join us to find out how to prepare practically and emotionally, planning and staying positive and how to maintain healthy relationships. The webinar will also share what the research tells us about deployment and the DCO support available to families.
The webinar will be held on Zoom, so you can join us from the comfort of home. You can download the free Zoom app from the Apple iStore or Google Play, or you can access Zoom from your web browser. Webinar details will be emailed to ticket holders before the event, so please make sure your email details are correct.
For privacy reasons the webinar will not be recorded for playback as some families may wish to raise questions of a sensitive or personal nature. We will however, place written responses from the Q&A session on our website in the days following the webinar. Members and their families can also contact the Defence Family Helpline, available 24/7, on 1800 624 608 for information at any time.
Thank you.
